This cabin, from 1914, was rented by a local family with a 100 year lease. The room you see jutting out used to have stream water piped directly into it to keep food cold. Now, river water is only pumped directly to the kitchen faucet, and empties back into the stream. Everything burn-able is put directly into the cast iron stove and burnt, instead of thrown away, and there’s a separate outhouse nearby.
